No, it is a runtime: the environment that runs JavaScript and TypeScript on the server, outside the browser. The language is the same as on the website, so one team builds both the site and the server.

What is Node.js best suited for?
Servers that handle many connections at once: APIs, online stores, chats, notifications and integrations with payment or CRM systems. For heavy data calculations we honestly recommend Python or Go, and combine technologies when a project needs both.
Node.js or PHP for my project?
Both are reliable and proven, so the answer depends on your team and existing systems: WordPress or a PHP team point to PHP and Laravel, a React project or a Vendure store points to Node.js. We work with both and recommend per project, not per fashion.
Does Node.js scale?
Yes: one Node.js server handles thousands of connections at once, and when the load grows we simply add more servers. Netflix, PayPal and LinkedIn use Node.js, and our own CMS server runs on it every day.
